# Getting started

> Create an account, get access, and sign in according to your role.

## Choose your journey

Parents, pupils with accounts and tutors use [Marketplace](/en/guide-utilisateur/marketplace). Institute owners follow [Business](/en/guide-utilisateur/business), without Django school access. Developers use their integration workspace. The school steps below apply only to OHADA schools; they are not an Austrian school journey.

## For the school's founder

<Steps>
  <Step title="Registration">
    Create your account at [saas.ardoiseeduc.com](https://saas.ardoiseeduc.com/register). This creates your school's profile on the Platform and generates your **activation code** - see [Activation codes](/en/plateforme/codes-activation).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Server installation">
    Follow the [installation guide](/en/guide-technique/installation) to deploy your school's server (on a single computer, a dedicated server, or a cloud server).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Setup wizard">
    On first launch, your server shows a welcome screen asking for your activation code. Once it is validated, restart the server - your installation is ready.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect your server to the portal">
    In **API Integrations**, check the permanent address and connection probe. The provisioned address is read-only; a reserved hostname does not prove the server is running. Start the installation and its connector before checking staff access.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite staff">
    From the **Departments (Staff)** tab, add each member of staff by e-mail address and assign them a role. See the next section.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## For school staff (secretary, censeur, accountant, supervisor and others)

An Ardoise account on its own is not enough to reach your school's dashboard - the founder or the director must **assign you a role** from the Departments tab.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create an account">
    Go to [saas.ardoiseeduc.com](https://saas.ardoiseeduc.com/register) and sign up with your e-mail address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask to be added">
    Give your e-mail address to your school's founder, who will assign you a role (Director, Censeur, Supervisor, Secretariat, Accounting, Cashier, HR, Teacher, Canteen, Library, Audit).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Once the role is assigned, sign in at [saas.ardoiseeduc.com/login](https://saas.ardoiseeduc.com/login) - you will be taken automatically to the dashboard matching your role.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  If the founder tries to add you before you have created your account, the addition fails with a clear message: create your free account first, then try again.
</Note>

## Install the application (PWA)

Whether you are a founder, school staff, a parent or a teacher, the site (both the marketplace and the SaaS portal) is a **Progressive Web App (PWA)** - installable like a real application, without going through a store.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the site in your browser">
    [ardoiseeduc.com](https://ardoiseeduc.com) for the marketplace, or [saas.ardoiseeduc.com](https://saas.ardoiseeduc.com) for your school's portal.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install it">
    **Desktop (Chrome/Edge)**: click the install icon in the address bar (or the **Install Ardoise** button offered in the application). **Android**: browser menu > *Install app* or *Add to Home screen*. **iOS (Safari)**: share button > *Add to Home Screen*.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Once installed, the application opens in its own window (no address bar), with an icon on your desktop or home screen like a native application. The interface (HTML/CSS/JS) stays available offline once it has loaded the first time - the data itself (grades, payments, messages) always needs a connection in order to synchronise.

## Available roles

| Role | Main access |
| - | - |
| Founder | The whole dashboard, settings, activation, staff management |
| Director | Equivalent to the founder for academic and administrative management |
| Censeur | Curriculum, timetables, grades, report cards, exam papers |
| Teacher | Their own classes: grades, lesson book, exam papers, marking |
| Supervisor | Discipline, attendance, lateness |
| Secretariat | Enrolment, pupil records, official documents |
| Accounting | Tuition fees, invoices, accounting follow-up |
| Cashier | Over-the-counter collection and receipts |
| HR | Recruitment, contracts, staff, payroll |
| Canteen | Point of sale, pupil wallets, stock |
| Librarian / Stores | Catalogue, loans and reservations, digital resources |
| Audit | Read-only across all operations |

Two kinds of access are not assigned from the Departments tab, because they follow from schooling
itself: **parents** and **pupils**, who reach their own space once the pupil is enrolled.

## Delete my account

This action exists for **every role**, including parents, pupils, tutors, institute owners, school staff, developers and OPS staff. It applies to your own account, not somebody else's.

1. Sign in, open **My account**, then **Delete my account**.
2. Read the consequences and enter exactly `DELETE` in the confirmation field.
3. Confirm your identity with the password or Google sign-in offered for your account. A linked school account must use the matching linked Google identity.
4. Confirm deletion. On success, Ardoise signs you out and removes sign-in access; the profile is removed or deactivated according to the journey.

<Warning>
  Account deletion does not necessarily erase all school history, contracts, lessons or financial records. Records necessary for integrity and retention remain under the product's rules. This is not a promise of total physical erasure or a legal guarantee. If the action fails, read the message and confirm your identity before retrying.
