# Activation codes

> What the activation code does, and what it does not.

<Note>This page concerns Ardoise School in the OHADA scope, subject to enabled modules and permissions. School, school accounting and payroll are not offered in Austria. Check local requirements; CountryConfig does not certify compliance.</Note>

Every school receives a unique **activation code** as soon as it registers at [saas.ardoiseeduc.com](https://saas.ardoiseeduc.com/register).

## What it is for

It is the only way for your installation to identify itself to the Platform: without it, your server cannot receive marketplace requests (enrolments, applications), or synchronise your classes.

<Warning>
  The activation code identifies your school to the Platform - it does not grant any paid
  feature by itself: the Ardoise core is free, with the advanced modules being paid (see
  [Subscription and pricing](/en/plateforme/abonnement)).
</Warning>

## Where to find it again

Always shown on your founder dashboard, in the installation guide. See [Installation](/en/guide-technique/installation) for using it when configuring your server.

## Periodic verification

Your installation periodically revalidates this code with the Platform. If the internet connection drops, a grace period (14 days by default) prevents any interruption while the connection comes back.
